Get your pre-orders in! New Ripatti album dropping June 25, 2021. THIS IS YOUR FINAL WARNING!
Vinyl is somewhat pessimistically limited to 500 pressing it seems – do not sleep!
Ripatti “Fun is Not a Straight Line”
Seems like we’re in for 11 tracks of Chicago footwork, distilled in the cold islands of Finland. The two previews posted are pretty great, as expected.
The following message is shared without prior consent. I do so in order to try and further the interests in quality music and artistic pursuits. Vladislav has been producing remarkable music from more than 20 years now. This is a chance to assist in ensuring that his output is (more) sustainable.
We should shake his hand, carry his suitcase, and subscribe to his projects.
Dear Listener,
i’m going to try something different this time and offer a subscription service.
I want to try and see if it could be a valid model for the both of us, the creator and the listener.
I have been contemplating this for a long time but now due to covid and all the concerts cancelled at least until the end of the year there’s no more holding back. Basically i’m trying to establish some sort of income from making music. There’s also a fact that i can’t release all the material i produce, i already have a backlog of several albums and have to wait and sit on them until labels can release them.
I’m going to offer exclusive material to subscribers that will not be released in any other way, as well as material that might be later on released for the public. There’s also a certain amount of old stuff i have never released which will be selectively released to subscribers. I’m also thinking of including other material that would be interesting to listen to, like collections of loops i have been working on, remixes of existing tracks, bootlegs or else. I’m especially keen on trying the loops concept as i myself like to listen to them a lot once i get a good one going. Just to be clear, these loops are not production material for you, it’s only for listening. It’s pre-production material for my forthcoming solo works. “Rakka” album was mostly made with such loops.
I will want to continue with “no fillers” mentality that i have always tried to adhere to my productions, but at the same time open a door to and share parts of the process and even failures in my productions.
If you ever only listened to Luomo material then i think this will not be for you.
The material will be mainly Vladislav Delay kind of stuff but there will be other more rhythmic things happening as well. I’m already working on a next Ripatti album material which is certainly geared more towards club/beats orientation and there will be other more rhythmic things happening as well.
What i’m not going to do is vocal house 😉
The subscription costs 10€ or more per month and includes all my back catalogue as well as all the new works that i’m releasing on Bandcamp in the future. Additionally, and maybe more interestingly, there will be new material i release monthly exclusively to subscribers. New content will be released in the beginning of each month.
i know this is a substantial amount of money in the long run and i’m going to do give it a real effort to make it worth your while. Obviously you can vote with your money or otherwise tell me if there’s something missing or you wish something to be changed, added, etc.
I hope this all sounds good to you as a listener. it’d be great to establish a way i could keep on producing music while making the ends meet, and you could keep enjoying a wider range of my productions. Your support is greatly and truly appreciated. Let’s make this happen!
In order to celebrate the return of the blog, I’ve decided to go through all of my gear, unit by unit, and write a quick review of each one. This allows me to catalog everything I have, as well as give an impartial review of each module.
I use everything frequently, and paid for everything myself so hopefully this is enough to differentiate me from the huge amount of fucking shills on the internet.
In general I don’t believe anyone’s reviews of gear for two reasons:
All these motherfuckers are in someone’s pocket.
None of these dudes actually use the things for music production. And even if they do, they are only interested in recreating the latest bullshit sound.
I’ll do the first review tonight and hopefully manage two or three per week until everything is done. There’s some weird and unusual pieces so hopefully I can offer support to others that have the same gear.
I’ll do instruments first because that seems like a good place to start, then move on to effects, then utilities (interfaces and the like). I’ll also be making audio captures of everything, just simple patterns and chord progressions. I’ll try and work something out so that each module is playing back the same patterns.
Everything will be recorded on a MOTU 24I/O at 44.1Khz 16bit, with no additional processing. Files will then be converted to MP3 with LAME 3.100 @ V0 preset. I can upload .wav files, but I really don’t see the need. Let me know if you disagree.
Oh wait, I think I may be able to do flac with HTML 5 – I’ll check that before abandoning the idea of lossless uploads.
I bought some old Russian (read Soviet) synths recently – a LELL UDS and a Formanta Polivoks, if anyone is remotely interested. I wanted to make something that really showcased both of these lovely synths. Then I drank some Strega. I am not a complex man.
I’d just like to say a big thank you to Bokeh Edwards for playing my track Lvcchesi “Burro” on his latest mix for Crack Magazine. This was a huge surprise to me and I am quite delighted. I’ve followed Bokeh Versions for some time now and really enjoy what they’re doing.
So, if anyone is interested, you can hear it on Crack Mix 205 at around the 10 minute mark. Although I suggest you do listen to the whole thing.
Also, if you are interested in hearing some more tracks, please visit Lvcchesi.com as I no longer have any social media accounts other than this blog. Fuck ’em.
So, it turns out that seminal Vaporwave release Floral Shoppe has a pressing run on vinyl. However, it appears that the record label “Olde English Spelling Bee” or “OESBEE” are really trying to rip off their customers.
There have been very few deliveries of the record (less than 200), and now the latest announcement is that outstanding order will not be shipped until the end of January. Strange that, because that’s exactly when credit card and PayPal protection runs out on the purchase. You may think this is a coincidence, but user OESBEE4 on reddit seems to be getting a little flustered about all of this.
Below follow some of the worst examples of customer interaction I could find. Needless to say, I don’t think you’ll be receiving you Floral Shoppe Vinyl.

Good luck with the scam, Todd Ledford, I hope someone sues soon.
I am pleased to say that the Lucchesi Burro EP is now available for preorder at various online record stores. I hasten to add that it will also be available at multiple brick and mortar stores – if you’re fortunate enough to still have one near you.
The official blurb: “The second release for Glasgow label Full Dose features two dancehall laced productions from Ayrshire via Kingston by Lucchesi. The Lucchesi Burro EP is uncompromising in approach & heavyweight in sound, reminiscent of The Bug on Rephlex, circa 2003. Vinyl only. Single sided 12” with insert.”
From the horse’s mouth: “Chopped the vocal from an old Dancehall LP I bought this week, sounds a lot like Burro Banton to me but I’m not 100% on that. Burro Banton is the fucking man, so I’ve got no issue crediting him with it regardless of his involvement.
Everything was sequenced on an old, tired MPC4000. Drums are Vermona DRM MK1 through a Voodoo Octave guitar pedal. Percussion is a Roland M-DC 1 processed through a JomoX T-Resonator II and couple of other guitar pedals. Synth pad is the Waldorf MicroWave XT with a Boss RV-1000 on top. Outro synth was Novation Super BassStation and a T.C. Electronics Fireworx. Master channel; Art Pro VLA II compressor and an old Akai PEQ. All recorded to tape for the dancehall feel (and hiss, mainly).”
Some of you may recognise this – coming soon to the Glasgow techno label ‘Full Dose’. Video, I think takes it to another level. I’ll keep everyone posted, but the test pressing has already been approved. In the mean time, please enjoy the video and audio clips.
